Help Us Reach Our April Fundraising Goal

Building a Strong Progressive Movement in Milwaukee

At our April 8th meeting, we heard a proposal from Citizen Action Wisconsin about hiring an organizer funded by individual members of various progressive organizations through out the county, including our own.  The idea is simple, if 200 individuals pledge to contribute at least $20 a month within the next 60 days a new local organization will be launched with a trained organizer to fight for the things we care about.   To find out more, visit Citizen Action Wisconsin's website, watch the video, and make the pledge.

This week, we celebrate the 45th anniversary of Earth Day.  First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network,[1] and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year.

Russ Feingold hasn't announced he's running for his old U.S. Senate seat yet, but all signs say it's only a matter of time. And a poll of Wisconsin voters released on Thursday indicates he could fare well in the 2016 election.

If the 2016 U.S. Senate race were held today, Feingold, who recently left his post as the State Department's special envoy to the Great Lakes Region of Africa, would likely defeat Sen. Ron Johnson, the conservative Republican who unseated him in 2010, according to a Marquette University Law School Poll released Thursday.

Feingold, who has not said whether he plans to challenge Johnson, has the support of 54 percent of registered voters in Wisconsin. Thirty-eight percent of voters would support Johnson, while 9 percent have no preference.

ThursdayCitizen Action WisconsinProgressive Democrats of AmericaPeace Action Wisconsin, and Wisconsin Jobs Now!, joined forces for the Fight For 15 Rally.  Hundreds of activists turned out to highlight how the low wages paid by businesses, including some of the largest and most profitable companies in the U.S. – like McDonald’s and Wal-Mart – are costing taxpayers nearly $153 billion a year.
